MJ5K

Saturday morning Shannah and I woke up quite early to head out to the second annual MJ5K hosted by our church! The goal this year was 200 people-we met the goal plus one! 201! The proceeds went to the Wilson County K-9 Search and Rescue Team and to Speed the Light, which is a missions organization! I had been running about 3 times a week for about 20 minutes at a time, so my goal was to run at least 2 miles then just see how I felt. Well i hit the 2 mile mark, and right after that was a steep hill. I think I walked maybe 30 seconds then finished out the last mile! We started between Chick-Fil-A and Panera Bread, then ran through the Providence shopping area, then back in a couple neighborhoods, then back to Panera Bread! It had a few more hills than I thought but we pushed through and made it. I think my time was 33.12 or somewhere around that, then Shannah was a little bit behind me. She did great too! She's more of a sprinter, so she went past her goal too! The winner ran it in 18 minutes! He was scootin'! I'll never see that time. I couldn't even run one mile in 6 minutes! HAHA My two biggest fans showed up right before the shotgun to support us and take some pics! Thanks John and Mitchell for coming out, i love you!
The BEFORE picture! 7:30 in the morning, don't we look flattering! HAHA
And we are OFF!
Heading up the last big hill!
Gotta smile for the camera, but only because the end is near!

Work it Shannah! Determination of a seasoned runner!

The AFTER picture! Nice and sweaty, but at least we made it!

Way to go Mommy!

Shoooo-weeee ya'll stink!

More fun with cousins!

Tuesday morning we met Aunt Jamie, Nolen, and Trevor at the park in Lebanon. It was a beautiful day and the boys had a great time! And Aunt Jamie and I got in some "Adult Conversation"- in between making sure noone escaped or hurt the other one! Then we headed off to McDonald's for more fun and food! Thanks for a fun day, we hope to do it again soon!
Check out some great pictures Jamie took of the boys!

Headboard Project!

Well i must admit that I have a problem and it's called: "Why buy something when you can make it." I think I'm so conservative because thats the way my mom and grandmother are. So if there's something I want, I usually try and find a way to make it. So, we moved Mitchell into his "Big Boy Bedroom" a few weeks ago and we had a frame for his bed, but no headboard. So going along the lines of the sports themed room, John decided that a football headboard would be best. So i start my search on the internet and see that a football headboard costs $199. WOW! Defintely not in our budget, especially when my Pawpaw can cut the wood for me and I can paint it. So after about $30 Wah-lah! We have ourselves a football headboard!

Had to turn the flash off for this pic. This is not the true color, but you can get the idea of the size/shape!

Here's more of the true color. Mitchell loves his "Sootball" headboard! Special thanks to Pawpaw for cutting it and to grandmother for prepping it!

Fun-filled Saturday!

Nolen was so excited to play putt-putt!
Nice form! He's def. got potential!

Hole #2 - as far as Mitchell made it!

I'm outta here!

Are we ever gonna get to ride the go-karts??

Woohoooo its our turn!

Mitchell can't believe it's really their turn!

John's action shot! Mitchell and I had to SLOW DOWN so him and Nolen could catch up to take a picture! :0)

That was fun Mommy!

I didn't know this at the time, but Nolen had never rode a go-kart. Craig and Jamie had tried to get him on one before but he didn't want to. So I feel honored that he chose to ride with us! He rode with his ears plugged the entire time! HAHA

We had a very fun Saturday! We woke up and went to our favorite place to eat-McDonald's! Let Mitchell play for a while, then headed back home to get John's car because I only had a quarter of a tank and there was no gas anywhere! So then we headed to Toys R Us. Let Mitchell pick out his Halloween pumpkin (to put candy in) and he also got a Backyardigans pirate ship. He loves "Arrrr Matey's"! HAHA Then we made a stop at Sam's to get some much needed dog food, diapers, and toiletries! Mitchell also got a sticker book here! (It never fails, anytime daddy goes shopping with us, Mitchell always leaves with something in his hands)! Then we went to Babies R Us to buy a baby shower gift. Ate lunch at Applebee's then headed home for Mitchell's nap. John and I got our garage cleaned out while Mitchell slept, then after he woke up Papaw brought over Mitchell's new headboard that I made and painted-its a football. (Pictures to come later) After that Mitchell called Nolen who was over spending the day at Grandma and Papaw's and asked him if he wanted to go play puut-putt and ride go-karts! Everytime we go by the putt-putt place Mitchell always says play putt-putt, so we decided we would take him. We get to the first hole and he is a little interested and hits the ball a couple times, THEN the go-karts start racing, so it was all over from there! Guess he has his Papaw's need for speed! So Daddy and Mitchell watched the go-karts, while I watched Nolen finish his next 17 holes! The go-karts were def. Mitchell's fav. Both boys waited very patiently for their turn! Then to end the fun-filled day we went back where we started-McDonald's! John and I were talking while they were playing and we came to the conclusion that we wished we had come up with McDonald's! HAHA

Cousin Fun!

Aunt Lisa e-mailed me Tuesday wanting to know if her and Michael (AKA "Small Mike" according to Mitchell) could come by and play. She said Michael had been talking about Mitchell all week. Michael is so funny, he gets really excited seeing Rocky and Emma! They are so cute watching riding around in Mitchell's truck. Lisa said it best, that will be them in about 14 years!
Come on Mitchell, lets get ready for Mount Everest in 15 years!
WRONG WAY!

Very determined look!

Mitchell says he hopes everyone has a great weekend!

Congrats Gram!

We just wanted to Congratulate Gram on 36 years of service for the state of Tennessee! Last Friday we attended a reception for her retirement! She was so loyal to her job over all the years that she had 3 months of sick days built up and 14 months of vacation! WOW! Sounds like the kind of worker I would want working for me! Hopefully she'll take it easy for a few months and just relax! You deserve it Gram! We love you!
Gram can't even believe she's been working at the same place for 36 years!
Mitchell being silly!

Mitchell thought he'd see what it was like to sit in a desk and do some work!

Thomas the Train!

This post is a couple weeks late, but I wanted to put the pics up! We went to Thomas the Train with Uncle Craig, Aunt Jamie, Nolen, Trevor, Uncle Clay, Aunt Lisa, and Michael a couple Saturdays ago! I really think all of the boys enjoyed themselves! I just now realized that Michael isn't in any of the pics! He and Mitchell were going opposite directions during the activity time, then they sat a few seats down from us on the train!
Checking the little trains out! Mitchell couldn't understand why he couldn't pick these trains up and play with them! HAHA
ALL ABOARD!

My two boys!
About to board the train!

Mitchell checking something out on the train!

Family pic!

Little Trevor man! What a doll!

My little Nolie! He's such a sweet well-manered kid!

Throw some goats, ponies, or pigs anywhere and you'll draw a crowd from the kids!

I think this was Mitchell's fav. part of the whole day!

1st day of Mother's Day Out-Report!

Mitchell had a great 1st day at Mother's Day Out! His note said, "What a great first day! I can defintely tell Mitchell is all boy, but he was awesome! He especially liked the mulch (on the playground) I was very curious as to how he would go to sleep, because it usually has to be really quiet for him to go to sleep. She said he was just sitting on his mat being good, but just sitting there for a while. She said she went over and said lets lay down, so she started rubbing his back (his breathing got slower), then his hair (his breathing was really slow), and he finally went to sleep and was the last to wake up. They only rest for an hour and 15 minutes so this will be an adjustment for him for those two days, but I'm sure he'll make up for it some other time! She said he did just fine after I left and didn't remember him crying when I left, so i'm sure it'll take a couple weeks for him to adjust then he'll be running on there and I'll be the one crying! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

1st Day of Mother's Day Out!

Well today was Mitchell's first day of Mother's Day Out and i can't quite get focused to work! I'm very happy that he's going to be around kids and different people, but its still hard! I'm sure next summer i'll be saying is it time for Mother's Day Out to start again! HAHA Yesterday was orientation and all of the parents went into their classrooms with them for about 15 minutes. Mitchell had a blast. There was a little play Dirt Devil vacuum and he was cleaning the floor just about the whole time. Today was a different story. The whole morning I just kept talking about how he was going to school and he was going to have so much fun and play all day. Well he did great getting out of the car and walking to his room. Once we got into his room the teacher asked if she could hang up his backpack, well I think thats when it hit him (my momma is about to leave me) So I turn to leave the room. After taking about 5 steps I hear this kid crying, i turn around and there he is. He had sprinted out of his room towards me, then I see both of his teachers running after him. They picked him up and were like, "Ok, so he's pretty fast" HAHA They say not to make a big scene, so i let the teachers pick him up and take him back to his class! I'm sure he was fine, once they got him distracted. He cried for the longest time in the nursery at church, but they said a minute later he was always fine! So we'll see. I know he'll have a blast though! I can't wait to pick him up at 2 and see how his day was!
Backpack and lunch box, ready to go!
Walking like a big boy to his school!
