It's Official!

So I guess it's official-we really are having a girl. I went for my 23 week appointment today and i asked the doctor what he thought about the 80% girl and he said that the doctor from the group that did the ultrasound reviewed it and signed off on it that it was a girl. He said if there had been any question they would have left it undetermined! So it looks like we'll be bringing the first "Carey" girl into the family in some 34 years. Before John and I were even married i was talking to a good friend about what our kids would look like and I said if i had it my way the boy would have my complection, blonde hair, and blue eyes and if we had a girl she would be dark complected like John with brown eyes! So we'll see if my prediction is right. Something tells me though that i'll be wrong, because i thought there would be no way our kids would have blue eyes and blonde hair! I can't remember if i said what her name was going to be in the last blog, but its going to be Shelby Dianne Carey. John and I both just liked Shelby then the Dianne is after John's mom who passed away from cancer when John was just 8 years old-she was 36! This was very easy for us since we already had the name picked out the first time around! Now just 16 more weeks and we'll see what she looks like! :)

Back-to-Back

I have to brag on my husband for a minute. Last Frday night was Trousdale County's graduation and John got Teacher of the Year once again. He's only been teaching for three years now, but has won the award the past two years! He truly deserves the award because of the dedication he has to his students, facility, and school. When Mr. Woodmore was talking about who the winner was he said this is the only teacher who may be mowing the school one day, painting the weight room the next, and dressing up like a cheerleader for a pep rally the next day! He's involved in just about every pep rally in some shape or form, whether it's dancing, doing a skit or dressing up in the male beauty pageant! Unfortunately noone informed us of his award this year, so noone was there to support him. Mitchell and i were in Hartsville visiting with Pops/Gram, Karla, Maddie, and Charli Jo but none of us were aware of his award! But I just want to say Congratulations to John-you deserve it!

End of the year picnic

This past Monday Mitchell had his end of the year picnic with his class and a couple other of the 2 yr. old classes. They played games all morning, then headed outside for a picnic and playtime! I can't believe the year is almost over-Monday will be his last day. I remember at the beginning of the year being a little leary about sending him, but now I'm thinking, when will September be here! HAHA It's really good for him to interact with other kids and to learn new stuff and good for me so i can work and get some things done!

Mitchell with his two buddies that he's always talking about from school. Naveya and Drew!

Miss Dorothy said this is where Mitchell is always sitting and his buddies are all in the cars behind him! Guess he's the ringleader-doesn't surprise me at all!

Mitchell's class: Drew P.,Mitch,Drew V.,Liza,Naveya,David, & Brooklyn.

And here's the famous Naveya! If you ask Mitchell if he has a g/f he'll tell you this is her! She's precious!

Mitchell's visor that they made this day! It of course had a shark, fish, and a whale on it!

Already a Ladies Man!

A few more pics/videos from the weekend

Trevor wasn't so sure about all of the getting dirty and wet stuff, so he stuck close to his mommy while we were at the campground!

Here's the Mother Day gifts that Mitchell gave grandmother and Gram. The middle one was from all three of the boys to my mom. I think they turned out so cute! They did a great job and loved getting paint all over themselves!

Not sure why this turned out so tiny, but here's Nolen and Mitchell stomping around in the mud! Nolen had a blast!

Mother's Day weekend

This weekend we spent the night in Hartsville then headed to Defeated to see mom (and dad) who had been up there camping all week. It has rained a ton here lately, so we took Mitchell's rainboots and several changes of clothes and headed to the campground.

  • This was from earlier in the week...dad was cleaning out the pool and found three little baby turtles-Nolen, Mitchell, and Trevor as Mitchell called them. He loved these little guys, ended up running away to find their mommy for Mother's Day or in other words-I set them free. HAHA :)

Heading out after the rained had stopped at the campground.

The Intimidator. He rode his little tricycle around just about the whole park.

    Playing in the wet sand.

    Time for the rainboots!

There goes outfit #2 for the day!

Doing a little fishing! Getting his pole ready!

Being patient! I LOVE this pic!

    Woohoooo-way to go Mitch!

Daddy-very proud of his little fisherman!

On Mother's Day we went to church, then the boys took me out to eat at Applebee's. We tried finding a statue for my front lawn at a few stores-but no success! This was my Mother's Day present from Mitchell! My car got cleaned inside and out. (he had just a little help)

Last week Jamie and I got the boys together to attempt a group "cousins" picture for mom for Mother's Day! They did great!

    Something must have been funny!

    And even funnier here!

Poor Mitch-his eyes have been running like crazy the past week-allergies. His left eye looked a little swollen this day!

We have been extremely busy the past couple of weeks. On Wednesday April 29th we added another baby to the Carey side-Miss Charli Jo. I could be wrong on this but i think she was 6 lbs. 9 oz. and 20 inches long. She came just a couple days early. Karla did a great job and i'm really hoping the second go around will be as smooth for me.
Then that weekend we headed to Macon, Ga to celebrate with John's aunt and uncle (Jean and Oodles) They were celebrating their 50th anniversary so we all really wanted to be there to help celebrate. We drove down in my grandmothers camper, so the boys had a great time! We left out Friday evening and spent the night in Marietta. The boys went for a swim that morning, then we headed to Olympic Park. They got in some playground time, then we headed to Atlanta Underground-kind of a scary place, then headed back to the park for some water time. They were both really good on the way down and back and had a ball together!

Early morning swim. Michael,Clay,John, & Mitchell

There was a guy giving swimming lessons to local kids, so Mitchell thought he would join in on what he was telling them to do.

Olympic Park. This was a pretty cool playground! Of course the boys loved it because there was plenty to climb.

I had never seen a slide like this one!

Taking a break!

Water time! The fountains were in the shape of the Olympic rings!

Playing hard!

Mitch trying to get Michael in the middle. Michael wasn't so sure about getting wet at first!

A BIG thanks to Aunt Lisa. Mitchell drug her all around the fountains-getting her soaked in the process! Thanks for being such a good sport!

Aunt Susie, Aunt Jean, and Pops (brothers and sisters)

Mitchell drinking on some lemonade!

The best picture i could get of the special couple! They were either mingling or i was chasing Mitchell around, so i never really got a good picture!

Michael and Mitchell playing at the party!

Giving Aunt Jean a "Happy Anniversary" kiss!
