Gatlinburg!

John and I got to spend 2 nights and a day in Gatlinburg Sunday-Tuesday. It was so nice to shop without rushing and actually sit down and eat a meal like normal people (without having to chase Mitchell around or eat all of your food in one bite) But we did miss our little guy a lot. We left early yesterday morning so we could get home to spend some time with him. We mostly just ate and shopped. It's funny how theres not much to do in Gatlinburg unless you have a kid with you or see one of the shows. We did stop at an arcade though. HAHA Just wanted to say thanks to my mom/dad, grandmother/pawpaw & Mike/Terry. He got shuffled around to all of the grandparents while we were gone. It was so nice to go on a vacation (even if it was just 2 nights) as a couple. You get so involved with your kids that sometimes you forget whats its like to be a "couple", so a little vacation like this is beneficial for all parents every once in a while I think! We were just thankful to have family to keep Mitchell while we were gone.

Birthday weekend!

We had a busy day Sunday with parties. For lunch, my in-laws had a combined birthday lunch for my sister-in-law Karla (April 4) and for myself (April 10) Maddie and Mitchell had a big time, but they missed cousin Michael, who was sick. We hope you are all better now!
Then we went to Prince Trevor's 1st birthday party. His actual birthday is April 12th, but because of everyones crazy schedules this weekend fit better. It was a beautiful day for parties, kind of hot actually!
Sorry John, I couldn't resist putting this picture up. Nice face you are making there. Swinging at Trevor & Nolen's house.
Mitchell just doing a little yard work for Aunt Jamie!

The prince for the day! Well really all the time. He LOVED his cake, but we all knew that would be the case. They had to take it away from him.

YUMMY!

Trevor checking it out, I put the pics in reverse order (whoops)

Pretty Prince!

Maddie and Mitchell wanting to go fishing since it was such a pretty day!

Alrighty Maddie, I'll take us to the pond!

You live and learn!

That phrase has never been so true. Yesterday as I was cleaning up the bonus room i was trying to get things cleared off the floor to vacuum. Of course my little helper was up there with me. So after I get a few scattered balls put back into the ball pit, i put it up on the couch thinking it would be a good place and out of the floor so that I could vacuum. I turn my back and start vacuuming one side of the room, then as I turn around I see Mitchell up on the couch dumping all 200+ of the balls onto the floor. (and of course the part of the carpet that I hadn't vacuumed yet) He had this evil laugh going on at the same time too. So I had to take a 10 minute break to pick up all 200+ balls that were scattered on the ground now. I asked him to help, but I think he put maybe 5 in there, he just jumped into the ball pit as i was throwing the balls on top of him. So lesson learned: just leave the balls on the floor until you come to that spot, then just move them somewhere else ON THE FLOOR.

The Escapee!

So Saturday morning, we hear that Mitchell is awake. We usually let him play with his turtle on the side of his bed for a little bit, then go in and get him. So John gets up and uses the restroom then heads towards Mitchell's room. I hear him open the door, then the next thing I hear is, "OH MY GOD!" My first thought was, "Did a tornado rip through our living room?" my next thought was "What has Emma chewed up now!??!!" But thankfully it was neither of those HAHA John says, Mitchell is sitting in the floor reading a book, so that means he got out of bed on his own! John put him back into bed and Mitchell showed him how he escaped. He did it very gracefully and didn't bump his chin or anything. We all knew this was inevitable, because of the way he loves climbing. SO that morning John took the railing off and Mitchell is officially sleeping in a daybed. It's still a pretty big drop off if he were to fall, so we stack the cushions from the couch out beside the mattress. So far he is doing great, gets up a little earlier than he used to, but thats ok. We are gonna be making the switch to the big boy room/bed very soon!
